The man, in his late teens, suffered a broken foot and abdominal injuries in the incident on the A12 near Southtown and was taken to the James Paget University Hospital.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 1.10pm.

Firefighters from Great Yarmouth and Gorleston used hydraulic gear to cut the roof from the car, a Peugeot 206, to free the teen who had become trapped by his leg, before he was treated by paramedics. Police also attended.

An ambulance service spokesperson said: “The young man had become trapped by his leg and all emergency services worked well together to ensure that he was treated and stabilised as soon as possible.

“He suffered a broken foot and abdominal injuries. His condition is not deemed life-threatening.”
