Burglars took car keys from a house in Halstead before driving away with the car which was parked on the drive.
The thieves forced their way through the front door of a house on Winston Way between 12-7.30am on Tuesday, August 27 and stole a laptop along with other electrical equipment worth over £400 before leaving in the grey Audi A4.
The incident has led police to appeal for witnesses and warn of the dangers of leaving car keys in sight at night.
Investigating officer, Dc Liz Young, said: “Our appeal specifically goes out to the early-morning motorists of that Tuesday who may have seen this car. Those who saw any suspicious, unusual activity in the area could also prove to be key witnesses.”
“We are also reminding people that car keys should also be kept out of sight and not left around to tempt the intruder who does successfully invade the home.”
Police say they have carried out a forensic examination of the house and made house-to-house enquiries.
