A serious crash in Harwich this evening left a young motorbike rider with serious injuries.

Among the injuries to the male rider, thought to be in his 20s, was a badly broken leg.

The ambulance service was called at 6.19pm to the incident in High Street which left the road closed.

An air ambulance was sent to the scene along with an ambulance and an ambulance officer.

The man was later taken to Colchester General Hospital by land ambulance.
