Harwich/Bury St Edmunds: Final leg of Women’s Tour to attract thousands of cycling fans on Sunday

More than 4,000 cycling fans are expected to line the Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds tomorrow when the five-day inaugural Friends Life Women’s Tour concludes.

World champion Marianne Vos has set up a thrilling day with a victory in today’s fourth stage.

Starting at 10am, the riders will travel through Mistley, East Bergholt, Hadleigh, Great Cornard, Sudbury, Long Melford, Lavenham, Great Finborough and Little Whelnetham before finishing in Angel Hill at around 1pm.

The presentation ceremony in Angel Hill is due to start at around 1.20pm.

Yesterday’s third stage saw the cyclists travel 80.5km from Felixstowe to Clacton.

But today’s activities in Bury St Edmunds were cancelled yesterday with heavy rain forecast.

The events, including the Total Trax mountain bike track and Rollerdome, are expected to take place tomorrow with better weather predicted.

Meanwhile, the Tour de Tendring Cycle Ride 2014 takes place in Dovercourt, near Harwich, tomorrow.

There is a choice of three routes – six miles, 20 miles and 60 miles. It starts from between 10.30am-12noon at Dovercourt Swimming Pool.

Meanwhile, hundreds of cheering spectators lined the streets of Felixstowe to show their support for the cyclists setting off on Friday.
