A gang of six men threatened to stab a woman as she walked along the street.

The victim, 35, was walking along Fernlea Road at 9.30pm on Friday when she was approached by the men, who demanded she hand over her belongings.

When she refused they threatened to stab her, though no weapon was seen.

The local woman managed to run away unharmed and nothing was taken.

She was able to describe three of the suspects. The first was white, around 20-years-old, about 5ft 7ins tall with a goatee beard. He was wearing a blue and white checked shirt with dark blue jeans.

A second man was also white with black hair and a stud earring in his left ear. He was around 5ft 6ins tall and was wearing a distinctive black jacket with reflective stripes on both sleeves.

The third suspect was wearing a dark blue v-neck jumper with blue jeans. He was also thought to be around 20-years-old.

Det Con Mo Crawley, investigating officer, said: “This attempted robbery left the victim shaken. I’m keen to speak to anyone who knows who is responsible or who might have seen these men run away.

“The victim saw them run in the direction of Alexandra Road.”

Anybody with information is asked to contact DC Crawley at Clacton Police Station on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
