Police are investigating a robbery in Harwich where a 15-year-old boy had a motorcycle stolen.

The incident happened in Main Road, at around 12.50pm last Wednesday. The bike, a Yamaha YB100 was later found in an alleyway where it had been abandoned.

Officers would particularly like to speak to an elderly couple who may have been walking past at the time of the incident.

Pc Kevin Ward, of Harwich Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “This happened close to an alleyway by Northsea View in Main Road which also leads through to Hollyrood.

“The victim was approached by a man, was threatened, and had his hooded top pulled over his head. His motorbike was then taken. The man then headed off in the direction of Willow Way. I am very keen to speak to the couple that were walking past at the time of the incident. I would like them to contact me at Harwich Police Station.”

A 15-year-old boy from Harwich was arrested later that day on suspicion of robbery. He has been bailed pending further enquiries until Wednesday, July 30.
