TWO men are being held in custody following the assault of a man on New Year’s Eve.

An 20-year-old man was assaulted in Main Road, Harwich, near to the BP petrol station at about 11pm on December 31.

Police were informed of the assault by a passing ambulance whose crew discovered a man lying on the floor. He is currently in hospital with a serious head injury.

Two men, both aged 22 and from Harwich, are currently in custody having been arrested on suspicion of GBH.

Police are seeking a third man in connection with this incident.
