A 34-year-old man from Haverhill arrested after a serious assault involving an “axe-type weapon” will appear in court today.
Ashley Braham of Conway Close in Haverhill was arrested yesterday morning, following an incident shortly before 8pm on Thursday night where a 25-year-old man was reported to have been attacked by another man with an “axe-type weapon” in the car park at Cangle Road Tesco.
The victim had three cuts on his head, two cuts on his arms and bruising to his back following the incident.
He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge but discharged later that same evening.
Suffolk police arrested Braham shortly after 9am yesterday and was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
He has since been charged with malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich today.
