STRUCTURAL damage has been caused to a cottage after a car smashed into the front porch.

Police were alerted to the incident at the bottom of Wilderness Hill in Hintlesham at about 1.20 this morning.

A red Volkswagen Golf ploughed into the brick built property stopping short of an internal door.

A structural engineer is due to inspect the damage later today.

Fortunately nobody was injured.
