James Regan, 33, and Robert Butler, 34, were reported as missing to police at around 8.30am yesterday after they failed to attend morning roll call at the open prison.

Regan is serving a four and a half year sentence for burglary. He was arrested shortly before midnight in Hastings, Sussex.

The other absconder, Butler, who is serving a seven-year and three-month sentence for conspiracy to commit burglary and driving offences, has not been found.

He is described as white, five feet 11 inches tall, with brown hair and is about 12 stone.

He has a tattoo on the upper part of his right arm and tattoos of the words mum, Dad and Rose on the upper part of his left arm.

He has connections to Essex.

Members of the public were yesterday advised not to approach both men.

At around 2am this morning, A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said in a statement: “A Hollesley Bay prisoner who absconded yesterday has been detained in Sussex.

“James Regan, 33 years, was found to be missing from the prison around 8.30am on Saturday, January 13.

“He was arrested just before midnight in Hastings and will now be returned to the prison system.

“Another absconder, Robert Butler, who went missing from the prison around the same time, remains outstanding.”
