Police are appealing for help in tracing a convicted armed robber who has fled a Suffolk open prison.

Officers were contacted by officials from Hollesley Bay, near Woodbridge, just after 1pm today reporting that Paul Oddysses had left the premises at around 12.30pm.

The 49-year-old, who was serving a life sentence for attempted robbery and robbery with a firearm, is described as white, around 5ft 6ins, of thin build, with brown hair, brown eyes and clean shaven.

He also has a scar on the back of his head and tattoos on both arms.

He has connections in the Hertfordshire and Essex areas.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen him or anyone with information about where he is to contact officers. You should not approach him or take any further action.

If you can help please contact Suffolk Police or your nearest police station using the national police number 101.

  • Why do we have prisons they are a camp where you can have the life of luxury free on the state. It's just ridiculous who thought of an open prison. Who would put a murderer or a violent person in an open prison

  • I suspect this man has a more serious background. You would not normally receive a life sentence for those offences if they were his first conviction. No mention of how long he had been inside. If our open prisons are full of serious offenders, what sort of offenders are in the secure prisons?

  • What a joke..How can it be called an "Open Prison"?? Surely Prison should mean prison? Slopping out & bread & water! Oh hold on, I forgot it's about the convict's Human Rights being affected & we wouldn't want to upset the PC brigade would we! If this country was a sick dog you would take it to the vets to be put down.
