Firefighters tackled a house blaze in Colchester on Wednesday evening.

Two fire engines were called to Ambrose Way at 5.30pm.

The fire was put out by 6.15pm and there were no reported injuries.

An Essex Fire spokesman said: “Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in a house. Neighbours were alerted to the fire when they heard a smoke alarm sounding in the house and dialled 999.

“On arrival the incident commander reported that property was smoke logged. Firefighters in breathing apparatus went in and using one hose reel jet had extinguished the fire by 6.15pm.”
