Competitive cyclist Emma Johnson, of Iken, near Woodbridge, will be leaving her bike behind when she embarks on her next adventure in aid of Against Breast Cancer – the Great North Run, on September 7. The committed fundraiser has already amassed £12,500 for the charity by completing the 1,500-mile Rock Ride from Gibraltar in June. Now she is hoping to top £14,000.

Ms Johnson, who is known as Magic, describes her self as “not really a runner”, but has been training determinedly with her pet dog Zulu, as she is passionate about the cause.

“Having seen a number of friends and families go through the heartache of breast cancer, and knowing I have the ability and drive to take part in challenges, I see my fundraising as a way of helping others less able,” she said.
