An accounting assistant who stole more than £32,000 from her employers has walked free from court after a judge decided not to send her straight to prison.

Victoria Nixon was employed by Trimble MRM Ltd of Ipswich when she stole the money, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Nixon, 26, of Bruff Road, Ipswich, admitted theft between August 2011 and March 2013 and was jailed for 12 months suspended for two years and given a 12 month curfew Saturday to Tuesday 7 pm-7am.

She was also ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge.

Recorder Ian Evans said he felt able to pass a suspended sentence because of Nixon’s remorse and the fact she had pleaded guilty.

He said Nixon had found new employment and was expecting a baby in November.

Mr Evans said Nixon claimed the theft took place between July 2012 and February 13 and that she left her job before her dishonesty was discovered.

The court heard that Nixon was employed by Trimble from March 2010 to March 2013 as an accounting assistant.
