“An amazing young man loved by all and full of the joys of life.”

That was the glowing family tribute to motorbike crash victim Rhys Lungley.

The 20-year-old, who lived in Radcliffe Drive, died early on Saturday morning after the bike he was riding collided with railings and glass near the University Campus Suffolk building on Ipswich’s waterfront.

He was quickly taken to hospital by paramedics but attempts to save his life were unsuccessful.

And now the former Otley College student’s family have said his death has left “a massive gap in our hearts”.

The tribute continued: “He was always a wonderful, caring and loving younger brother to Richard and Sarah and a best friend to his younger brother Adam. To Evan and Erin Rhys was the most fun-filled, exciting uncle.

“Rhys’ bike was his freedom allowing him to explore life all over enjoying it with his friends. Our Rhys was brought into this world surrounded by love and his family, and he left us the same way, being surrounded by us those that loved him more than anything in this world.

“Rhys had such a big, kind and gentle heart with many friends whom we wish to thank for all your heartfelt messages of support and fond memories.

“He was such a caring person and a fantastic son, grandson, brother, uncle and friend; always there to listen, to talk to, even just being around him was enough. His own unique ways made us all laugh and brought so much joy to us all.

“Goodnight our darling Rhys, until we meet again.”

Tributes to Mr Lungley have also been posted on Twitter and a Facebook page set up in his memory, R.I.P Rhys Lungley.

Bobbie Harvey (@bobbiejoharvey) wrote: “I would just like to say RIP to Rhys Lungley who sadly lost his life Saturday morning, my thoughts and prayers all go to his family,” while Georgina Reagan said (@GiinaaReagan) said: “Even though I only met you a few times, you were a lovely person R.I.P Rhys Lungley.”

Messages have also been sent in to this paper, with Lee Mundy saying: “This young lad was a friend of my daughter Sophie. To say it’s been a shock is an understatement,” and Sophie Annett writing: “Rhys you were such a lovely and kind bloke. Heaven gained another angel at such a young age.”

Mr Lungley worked at Cineworld in Ipswich and a spokesperson for the company said: “Cineworld is deeply saddened that a member of staff from our Ipswich cinema has passed away. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
