Pupils at Stutton Primary School were treated to a visit from a world champion sportswoman yesterday.

Former Olympic badminton player Gail Emms was at the school as part of the nationwide Be the Best You Can Be initiative.

She spoke with both the pupils and their parents about her career and how to help young people achieve their aims.

Headteacher Wendy Worley said everyone who came to the event really enjoyed it. Mrs Worley said: “It was a super event.

“It was so much enjoyed by parents and children and she was great.

“She talked about her life and how she started badminton at the age of four and how she enjoys coming into schools to talk about her targets.

“It was very interactive and everyone enjoyed it.

“She was at the school all morning.”
