A MONTH after her husband was found dead on an Ipswich street, a grieving widow is today preparing to fly his ashes home.

Donatas Kislauskas was found in Queen Street at around 6.50am on November 3, after a night out to celebrate getting his first permanent job since moving to Ipswich.

The 29-year-old was spotted on CCTV cameras on the Corn Hill, apparently drunk, at around 4am.

An initial post-mortem examination proved inconclusive and subsequent tests have to try to determine a cause of death have been unsuccessful.

A Suffolk police spokesman said the cause of his death remains unknown.

More than 1,000 miles from home in Vilnius, his widow Dovile Cepliejute faced the devastating reality of not being able to afford to lay her husband to rest. But staff at recruitment firm StaffBank, who helped place Mr Kislauskas, of Wherstead Road, in his permanent role, stepped in, helping raise nearly £2,000 to pay for his cremation. Louise Sandham, of StaffBank, told The Star the service on Wednesday was “heartbreaking”.

“We have almost raised enough to cover the cremation thanks to a host of local businesses. We are just waiting for the last bit of money but the wonderful funeral directors R. Hyde-Chambers Funeral Services, have been absolutely amazing.

“Dovile is planning to fly home to Lithuania with Donatas’s ashes next Thursday so it was a bit of a rush.

“Dovile has really been overwhelmed by the support she has received.”
