Ipswich: Takeaway delivery man threatened by men with a hammer and knife during attempted robbery

PUBLISHED: 09:44 03 January 2014 | UPDATED: 09:44 03 January 2014

A man delivering takeaway food in Ipswich was threatened by two men brandishing weapons during an attempted robbery in the early hours of this morning.

A 29-year-old man was delivering takeaway food to an address in Goring Road at around 2am but as he pulled up in a car outside the property two men approached his vehicle.

One of them appeared to be holding a knife and the other a hammer.

The delivery man was threatened through the open window of the car and told to hand over the food and cash but he drove away.

As he made his escape, he was grabbed and felt a blow to his shoulder.

He sustained a red mark and possible bruising to his shoulder but nothing was stolen.

The two men involved are described as white, in their late teens to 20s and of skinny build.

Both were wearing dark clothing including hooded tops with the hood up.

Police officers made enquiries at the address the food was to be delivered to and the occupants there had not ordered it.

Police are witnesses or anyone with information about the two men involved to call Ipswich CID by dialling 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.

  • I think maybe the Evening Star needs to be more careful with its advertising...This article about a man that was assaulted and threatened with a knife had a big advert mid-text about "do you need life insurance..."
