Ipswich: Tax workers join strike against job cuts at HMRC

Tax workers in Ipswich were set to go on strike today against job cuts.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) members of the PCS union at Haven House, Lower Brook Street and St Clare House, Princes Street, are taking part in a week of rolling action.
In February, HMRC announced that nearly 300 walk-in tax offices around the UK were to close and be replaced by a new phone-based service, supported by pre-arranged face-to-face interviews when necessary.
Union bosses say closure of the public counter at St Clare House and 50 voluntary redundancies in April have resulted in worsened services to the public.
