Ipswich Corporation Trolleybus that has been restored to full working order operating at the East Anglian Transport Museum at Carlton Colville near Lowestoft.

An Ipswich trolleybus will be giving passengers a ride
for the first time in more
than 50 years at a Suffolk transport museum at the weekend.

The trolleybus is owned by the Ipswich Transport Museum and its restoration was completed last year. However the Ipswich museum does not have an overhead power supply.

So it is spending the summer at the East Anglian Transport Museum at Carlton Colville, near Lowestoft, and will enter service during this weekend’s “Suffolk made and operated” event at the museum.

Ipswich Transport Museum Chairman Mark Smith said “We’ll be moving a small convoy from our collection up the A12 just for the weekend.

“This will hopefully give the visitors the chance to ride on some too.”

The event takes place at the East Anglia Transport Museum between 1pm and 5pm on Saturday and 11am and 5pm on Sunday.

A free bus shuttle will operate between Lowestoft
railway station and the museum.
