Ipswich: Appeal for witnesses after man tricked elderly woman and stole her purse

A man who tricked an elderly lady into believing he was at her home to check her gas and electricity meter is being sought by police after he stole her purse.

The incident happened in Suffolk Road, Ipswich, at about 4pm on January 30.

The lady let him into the property and she realised later that her purse had been stolen.

The man is described as white, about 5ft 4ins, of a thin build and aged about 40-50. He was clean shaven and wore a brown jacket and trousers.

A witness described seeing a man of ‘mixed race’, about 6ft, outside the property at the time of the incident.

Call police on 101 with information.
