Ipswich Buses is introducing changes to its Service 1 and Service 6 – and is introducing a new Service X1.

The new routes will allow people from the Broke Hall estate to reach the doctors’ surgery in Ravenswood more easily.

And it will also provide better links to Futura Park – the home of the John Lewis/Waitrose superstore – and the Sainsbury’s and Homebase stores at Warren Heath.

Ipswich Buses managing director Malcolm Robson said: “We have a new network of services in south east Ipswich taking into account many public comments we received about providing links to the surgery in Ravenswood, plus better bus links to John Lewis, Sainsbury’s and the hospital.

“We have listened to what local residents and councillors were telling us and have redesigned our network to provide new links whilst also improving our express service X3 along Nacton Road.”

Copies of the new route map and timetables can be downloaded from www.ipswichbuses.co.uk

  • Mr Robson , Surely the people who live on this high priced housing estate don't have to rely on the local bus to go to the doctors surgery .. also i would like to know how they can run an EXPRESS SERVICE in an congested traffic area .

  • You need to ask why are first bus on our town services . Because Ipswich buses management has let this happen . We had 10 mins and 15 mins services and they changed them to a 20 min service so first bus has seen a opportunity . Service 910 will be next .

  • I feel sorry for any shift workers (MAKRO, etc) that do not get to leave or arrive at work during the peak times that number 1 bus travels around Ransomes Europark The Havens. They will now have to walk tofrom the Thrasher to get their bus!

  • Don't know why so much unqualified (and uneducated bile) towards Mr Robson. Ipswich is one of the few towns still running its own bus service, all others have fallen to the FirstStagecoachArrivaetc absorption. Whats followed has been retraction of services and increase in fares. This latest action in Ipswich is only to protect IBC services against First attempt to force them out and meet customer demand. Good Luck to Robson and his staff, far more reliable and customer focussed generally than the First shambles!

  • @ Disbeliever. very very true, the people of Ipswich do not know how lucky they are to have a company like IBL believe me. Well run for the people of Ipswich and any profit which it must make by law goes back to the people of Ipswich. not fat cat shareholders who could not give a stuff if you don't have a late or early bus so long as they get their dividend. its time for people to back IBL not knock them.

  • @ Malcolm. Perhaps Mr Robson lives on Broke Hall and has just changed his doctor to one at the Ravenswood surgery.

  • Load of ballcocks. Ipswich buses must be stand alone and responsible. it cannot get bailouts from our wonderful council. failure of any equipment is down to the provider. at the end of the day the service from Ipswich buses is far superior to first bus. i know i have 10 years experience of those idiots.
