Around 50 tickets to see the Suffolk singer perform an acoustic set at a secret location in Ipswich sold out within a minute, according to reports.

Doors open at 10am with the gig getting under way at 11am, but further details have not been released.

According to reports, even people who have bought a ticket do not know where the gig is being held. It it thought they will be informed on Monday morning.

The performance forms part of the 23-year-old’s promotion of his new album ‘x’ or ‘multiply’, set for release on June 23.

On Monday, Sheeran also performs in London and Dublin.

A statement on See Tickets’ website said: “To gain entry to the venue, the lead name on the order must have photo ID. If you are booking two tickets you MUST arrive together.

“Please don’t attempt to sell your ‘ticket’ on the secondary market or it will be cancelled and you will be refused entry.

“Please note that for safety reasons the standing area may be sub-divided and the front area will be allocated on a first come first served basis.”

  • Can't blame the kid though really - he's done well for himself. It's just a crying shame we all allowed the music industry to be taken over by the likes of Herman Munster square hairdo's like Cashpoint Cowell who allowed the mundane to reach heights out of scale with their mediocrity.

  • Could do with brushing up on his playing technique too - busting all those strings... or buy Rotosound.

  • As long as it isn't anywhere I'm going to be, I don't mind where he plays. He seems to be quite a decent bloke, but he's hardly a major musical talent.

  • Lord Horn - Why are you wasting your incredible comic talent on here, just giving away your your stunningly witty comments away for free? I would be happy to pay to hear more gems from you - provided I could have a surgeon on hand to sew up my splitting sides. Meanwhile at Carrot Road the performances have been awesome . . . . .

  • It's safe to say that it won't be the Regent in Ipswich. They've probably got a Meatloaf Tribute on that night & sold 90 tickets for the show!!! Eds' people probably don't know we have a music venue in the town? No other promoter in the UK does why would they be any different???

  • he'd better watch out, Suffolk and Norfolk police have 10.000 women on standby to stop any raves in their tracks over the bank holidays.
