IPSWICH: He was the love of my life, my world and my soul mate.

The fiancée of Chris Thompson, found dead in Chantry Park on November 15, has today told of her devastation at losing her partner and soul mate.

Liz Norman told The Star she last spoke to the 35-year-old the weekend before his body was found, sparking a murder investigation.

“We split up in September, October time – he called me the weekend before he died wanting to get back together, but I wasn’t ready,” she said.

“It has broken my heart losing Chris. He was such a lovely guy.”

The couple, who met in January, lived with Miss Norman’s two children Charlotte, 15 and 13-year-old Ryan, in Lowestoft, becoming engaged in April.

“He was the love of my life, my world and my soul mate,” the 40-year-old carer added.

“He made me smile, we had our ups and downs but that is what love is all about.

“I wish we had sorted things out when he texted me, if we had he might still be here with us today. I am going to miss him so much.

“When he proposed he made me the happiest woman, I still wear the ring today.

“He was like a dad to my kids, he was so lovely with them both, he loved them to bits and they miss him so much, they are heartbroken

“He loved his family very much, he would do anything for anyone and his mum Lizzie was his world.”

Mr Thompson’s body was discovered by a dog walker in Chantry Park just after 6am on November 15.

A post-mortem examination revealed the unemployed ground worker died from strangulation and assault injuries.

Christopher Wilson, 33, and Deanna Stanton, 26, both of no fixed address, will appear at Ipswich Crown Court in February after being charged with Mr Thompson’s murder.

A 42-year-old man from Ipswich has been bailed until January 8. Suffolk coroner Dr Peter Dean adjourned the inquest into Mr Thompson’s death until the case goes to crown court.
