A foot-licking, toe-sucking psychiatric nurse has denied sexually assaulting a woman while practising reflexology on her.

Ipswich Crown Court heard how the alleged offence is said to have happened at Vincent Brookes’ home in Reynolds Road, Ipswich. after the woman had reluctantly agreed to take part.

Prosecutor Andrew Oliver told the jury the session had been conducted in silence until Brookes took the woman’s big toe in his mouth.

Mr Oliver said: “He placed her whole big toe in his mouth and then sucked. He was groaning while this was going on.”

The court heard after Brookes was arrested following the woman complaining to police, the 48-year-old admitted sucking her toes and kissing her foot, but did not know why he did it.

However, Brookes told officers he thought that because he had gained her consent to carry out reflexology he believed he had her agreement to kiss and suck her foot.

Brookes also said the woman did not say no and she had seemed to enjoy it.

He denied getting any sexual gratification and also denied he had a foot fetish.

Giving evidence, the woman said she had gone to Brookes’ home with him. While they were in conversation Brookes said he was taking a course in reflexology.

She said he offered to show her what reflexology was. He got out some paperwork, including a diagram showing pressure points on the foot which illustrated different ways they connect with different parts of the body.

The woman filled in a form to state she had no pre-existing injuries or problems which would be affected during the demonstration.

Brookes and the woman went into his living room where she lay on a sofa with her feet hanging over the end, while he sat on a foot stool between the sofa and the door, the court heard.

To begin with the woman had her eyes open as he was putting pressure on different points of her foot, while referring to the diagram and explaining what areas were affected.

The woman said: “Then he told me to close my eyes and relax. That’s when it started to feel more like a massage. He initially started to carry on with both his hands and then I felt his mouth going towards my big toe. I initially jolted, but I didn’t know what to do.

“I was aware he was blocking my exit and (I) wouldn’t be able to get out if he tried to stop me.

“I could feel his lips on my toes. I just froze.

“He then carried on to suck my big toe and the toe next to my big toe. It was like he was nibbling at my feet.

“He didn’t say anything, but made like groaning noises while he was doing it. It was more of a pleasurable groaning.”

The court was told after Brookes stopped the woman made an excuse to leave the house.

The case continues.
