Mike Ambrose, 29, who was engaged to partner April Scott, died last week after an accident involving two motorbikes and a Land Rover in Otley.

The head chef at the Westerfield Railway was riding with his best friend Kieren Barrett when the accident happened on Tuesday on the B1078. Kieren and the 4x4 driver escaped with minor injuries but Mike died at the scene.

His girlfriend of six years, April Scott, 23, speaking at Mike’s family home in Ipswich, said: “He was my prince charming, my knight in shining armour, my soul mate, husband-to-be and future father of my children. I was proud to be his fiance; ‘bub’ was my whole world.”

Mum, Caroline and dad, Cameron, said: “He was loyal, loving and funny; cheeky, and a passionate role model.

“Words will never be enough to say how much we love him; he could do no wrong. Everyone said he was a beautiful baby and he became a handsome and dutiful young man who was the apple of our eyes.

“He was dad’s wingman and would do anything for his mum. He has left us with a gap in our hearts that will never be filled.”

The former Claydon High School student loved his job as head chef at The Railway pub in Westerfield where he had been working for around three years.

Outside of the kitchen, motorbikes, Manchester Utd and his family and friends were among his biggest passions.

After qualifying for his riding licence he could often be found with Kieren at the Snetterton race track in Norfolk on his Suzuki bike.

He also enjoyed fishing with his dad on their small boat moored at Shotley.

Mike’s sister, Rachel Gow, 27, has agreed with husband Tom, to name their first boy, Michael Scott Gow.

She said: “He taught me right from wrong and rescued me from every situation I found myself in. He always listened to my troubles and guided me through tough times. He was my inspiration and my hero; my best friend.”

Mike was also a grandson, cousin and nephew.

Caroline and Cameron added: “He died doing what he loved – out on his bike. We will all love and miss him forever. He will be in all our hearts forever.”
