Father-of-two Lee Calver, 38, moved to Liverpool when he was a youngster but returned to Suffolk on holiday and was a big Town fan.

He began feeling unwell on Mother’s Day and hospital tests revealed his condition. Despite a successful operation, he died the Sunday after Mother’s Day.

About 20 people took on the 8.2mile walk to raise funds for the specialist neuroscience trust, The Walton Centre, in Liverpool, which treated Mr Calver, on Sunday. The walk has raised more than £2,000.

His sister, Nicola Robinson, said: “Apart from the weather, it (the walk) went really well.”

At the end of the walk, pigeons were released as they were Mr Calver’s favourite birds. Medals, donated by LJ Wiggins Trophies, were also handed out.

Mr Calver was described as a “gentleman” who was “loved by all who knew him”.
