Police today said an Ipswich man arrested after a woman was struck by a train has now been detained on suspicion of helping her try to take her own life.
British Transport Police (BTP) were called to an incident at the Spikes Lane crossing in Stowmarket on Sunday evening.
The BTP had previously said that the man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A woman, who is also from Ipswich and in her 20s, sustained head and pelvic injuries.
Her injuries were described as serious, but not life-threatening.
She was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for treatment.
A BTP spokesman said: “A 37-year-old man from Ipswich arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting suicide has now been interviewed and released on police bail until Thursday, May 8 pending further enquiries. The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.”
