IPSWICH: A mother-of-two is disqualified from driving today after being caught behind the wheel while nearly double the drink-drive limit.
Candace Woodsford, of Acer Grove, Ipswich, clipped a kerb and was seen veering across the road before police stopped her in Sheldrake Drive.
The 32-year-old pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol when she appeared before South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutor Colette Griffiths said police officers were on patrol when they saw Woodsford’s Ford Fiesta being driven erratically.
The court heard the vehicle hit the kerb and was then seen swaying from side to side.
When Woodsford pulled over into a parking bay, the officers approached her and she was arrested.
A blood test showed Woodsford had 144 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80mlgs.
Mark Holt, mitigating, said his client had helped out at an event at Stone Lodge Lane community centre on November 29.
She acknowledged she had consumed two vodkas at the end of the evening, but had not felt unduly impaired to drive.
District Judge David Cooper disqualified Woodsford from driving for 12 months and fined her £100. She was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 government surcharge.

What makes matters worse is the venue where she was drinking was only 10 minutes walk from her house and 2 minutes in a taxi ! How irresponsible can some people be especially when they should be setting an example as a parent
