A national supermarket chain will be helping to bring some cheer to people feeling lonely this winter.
Waitrose are asking for people who organise Christmas dinner events for the edlerly, homeless or vulnerable to get in touch with their local store and apply for support.
This could come in the form of food, money or staff to help plan events.
Each of the retailer’s 300 shops has an allocation of volunteering time and money to put towards community Christmas dinners and they are encouraging people organising or thinking of organising such an event to apply for the support.
Waitrose Community Manager Tina Varns said: “Through our Community Matters initative our shops have been able to support such incredible work going on in communities across the country.
“We’ve learnt first-hand how vital this kind of support is at providing lifelines to vulnerable people.”
The deadline for applying for the support is November 15.
