A first-floor flat and shop unit in Jaywick were badly damaged by water after thieves stole two boilers.
The break-in happened when thieves forced their way into a flat above an empty shop on Meadow Way, near its junction with Broadway, between 7pm Sunday, January 26 and 10.30am Monday, January 27.
Investigating officer, Dc Bernadette Lord, said: “The removal of these combi boilers caused substantial water damage to the flat and the shop below. “Mindless people are behind this burglary and they have illustrated that they just don’t care about people’s property so long as they steal what they’re after. We need these people arrested.”
A forensic examination of the scene was carried out as were house-to-house enquiries.
Anyone with information in connection with this burglary is urged to contact detectives at Clacton police station on 101.
