Burglars have ripped out copper pipes from a home in Gorse Way, Jaywick

Police are keen to hear from anybody who saw any suspicious behaviour in that area around the time of the burglary.

Thieves forced entry to an unoccupied house between 3pm on Wednesday, April 9 and 6.30am on Saturday, April 12 by smashing a side door.

Once inside, copper piping to the central heating system was removed, also resulting in water damage to the property.

Investigating officer Mo Crawley, of Clacton CID, said: “It is likely a vehicle would have been used to transport the piping and the thieves’ activity may have been witnessed by passers-by who did not realise they were stealing this copper. If anyone saw any suspicious activity, knows who was responsible or has been offered this piping for sale I would urge them to contact me at Clacton Police Station on 101, and ask for extension 440030.”

She added people could also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
