A teaching trio are challenging pupils to join in their marathon fundraising efforts.

The team from Kesgrave High School are encouraging every pupil to help raise money for Action on Hearing Loss by running 26 miles in 10 weeks.

The challenge will conclude on April 5, when staff and students will run the last three miles together.

Deputy head Cath Breckell, who is running the London Marathon with psychology teacher Geraldine McLaughlin and librarian Sarah Mason, and whose brother, Paul Breckell, is chief executive of Action on Hearing Loss, said: “I hope that the school gets involved and helps us to raise much needed funds to support all the great work Action on Hearing Loss is doing to help the millions of people with hearing loss and deafness every day. By running in London I also hope that we will inspire youngsters at the school to run and set themselves challenges.”

The school’s running club is helping with pupils’ running skills, and any miles completed with the club will count towards their total. There will also be a prize for the form group with the most people completing the challenge.
