Lakenheath: RAF base to feature on tonight’s One Show

14:04 12 March 2014

Archant

A west Suffolk air base is to achieve national fame tonight with a spot on The One Show.

RAF Lakenheath will be the subject of a five-minute feature on tonight’s popular BBC One programme, which airs at 7pm.

The package is due to feature interviews with Commander Kyle Robinson, as well as other airmen and their family members as the programme seeks an insight into life on the base.

Other topics that were covered during filming include the base’s history, “little America,” the resident 48th Fighter Wing’s mission and its economic impact on the local area.

Master sergeant Zachary Melin said: “We’ve not been able to preview the program, so there’s no telling what they decided to incorporate, but we’re certain that based on some of the amazing footage they gathered it’s bound to be a very entertaining piece.”
