Festival-goers on their way to Latitude are reporting long delays after work was done to clear the carriageway.

Police were called to the lorry and car crash at around 1.15pm, with officers expecting the road near Yoxford to be closed for several hours.

A man was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with “serious life threatening injuries” after his car collided with a lorry northbound.

The lorry was left overturned in a field and sand and shingle spilt from the lorry has covered the carriageway, an ambulance spokesman said.

Police, firefighters, paramedics and the air ambulance were all called to the scene.

Officers had closed the A12 at around five miles away from the festival site at Benhall but reopened it at around 5.30pm.

Ben Hart tweeted a photo showing his friends sat waiting for the road to clear. He said cars were creeping to Latitude at just 1mph.
