Early bird tickets for Latitude 2015 are set to go on sale this week as organisers hint at an extra stage and even a second event for the festival’s tenth anniversary.

News of the sale comes just less than a week after the sun went down on the ninth edition of the Latitude festival, which featured headlining performances from Lily Allen, Damon Albarn and The Black Keys.

Melvin Benn, founder and creator of Latitude, has already suggested that the tenth festival will be like a “birthday party” and claimed there will be some big surprises and big announcements in the coming weeks and months.

He said: “I’m almost certainly going to add another stage next year and another area. I’ll make the festival footprint bigger, even if I don’t make the capacity bigger.”

He said the new stage would be small and tucked away, adding: “I know exactly what it will be called, but I can’t tell you.”

Speculation is already growing online about possible headline acts for the 2015 festival, which is scheduled to take place in early July. One of the most popular choices has been Arcade Fire who played the Henham Park site in 2007.

Mr Benn said: “There’s one particular headliner that I’ve got on my mind that for me would say a lot about the festival,” he said. “I’ve been clear in the past that we don’t want the same headliners twice, but I’ve got a couple of people I want to come back.”

The festival director, who was also the driving force behind the Leeds Festival, which is partnered with Reading, has also said he is considering putting on a second smaller Latitude in 2015. Although the festival director wouldn’t be drawn on the date or the location of the sister event, he confirmed it would be “a distance from the Southwold area” and probably outside Suffolk.

He said: “I have looked at a second smaller one and I will continue to look at it and may have it for the tenth anniversary. There is a particular site I have looked at.”

Mr Benn said this year’s Latitude festival had been one of the best yet. He added: “It was an amazing weekend with outstanding headline performances from Black Keys, Damon and Lily and phenomenal performances across all the arts that we cover.

Lily stepping in at the last minute to deliver the set of her life to a huge and appreciative crowd was awesome as was Damon conducting the lightning from the main stage during his set.”

Mr Benn said: “Everything was perfect! Roll on the tenth birthday party of latitude in 2015.”
