Walkway, a four piece band made up of members from Norfolk and Suffolk, will support the Rockin’ All Over the World group at the University of East Anglia.

The band formed in 2007 and have recently celebrated their 1000th show as well as the release of their third album Walkway III,

Walkway is made up of singer Chris Ready, his brother and lead guitarist James Ready, drummer Andy Burlace and bass guitarist Mik Skiba.

Chris and James hail from Redgrave near Diss with James coming from Felixstowe and Mik from Ipswich.

The band have previously supported Status Quo, opening their Accept No Substitute tour back in 2014.

On working with Quo, Walkway guitarist James said: “it is just indescribable. Things like that make the whole world of difference.”

Since then Walkway have built up a good relationship with the band, playing a number of gigs with them across the country at venues like The Palace Theatre in Manchester.

The band got on well with Status Quo’s former lead singer Rick Parfitt who died last year.

James added; “He was an absolutely lovely guy and we are very thankful. The fact that he gave us his time is really important to us.”

As well as working with Status Quo, Walkway have had the opportunity to work with a number of other famous acts over the years including Slade.

Whilst working with Status Quo has been a great opportunity, the band are looking at new projects.

“We never know with these things,” said band manager Michael Ready. “They tend to come up and go away for a while.

“We are always working on some bigger things.”

One of the bands latest projects is a charity single which they are working on with the Status Quo fan Jason Hodgson who has set up a record label called Barrel and Squidger Records.

The group recorded a cover of the classic Quo track Rain as a tribute to Rick Parfitt, even involving former Quo drummer John Coghlan in the recording.

Money raised by the single will go to charity the Shona Smile Foundation which remembers Ipswich youngster Shona Gill.
