Lowestoft: Police appeal for help tracing owner of dog which bit woman

PUBLISHED: 12:37 23 April 2014 | UPDATED: 12:37 23 April 2014

A dog walker was bitten by a Staffordshire terrier-type dog in Lowestoft.

On April 7 between 7pm and 7.15pm the woman was walking her boxer dog near Claremont Pier when the Staffordshire terrier-type dog ran towards them.

The Staffy then grabbed the boxer by the neck and wouldn’t let go.

The woman tried to get the Staffy to release her pet and when she managed to pull her animal away the dog then went for the boxer again. On this occasion it bit the woman’s hand.

She was taken to hospital by her husband and was told that she would lose her fingernail and have scarring to her finger.

The owner of the Staffy was apologetic at the time, had tried to get his dog to release the boxer, and gave his name and a contact phone number.

However the number has since been found not to work and despite enquiries by police he cannot be traced.

Police are asking the owner of the dog to come forward and are also asking anyone who may know who he is, or anyone who may have seen the incident to get in touch.

If you can help please call Pc David Wallace at Lowestoft on 101.
