This year marked the 200th anniversary of the invention of the rollercoaster, with the first opening in 1817.

This week also marked Rollercoaster Day, a day in which people can celebrate the zooming, whizzing and often looping attractions.

With places such as Pleasurewood Hills and the Pleasure Beach, our region boasts many of its own, however, it is also home to one of the biggest fans of the rides.

David Ellis, of Lowestoft, has ridden more than 1,000 different rollercoasters in his time.

The financial expert, who works as an advisor for the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, has even ridden some naked.

The region's fastest rollercoaster, reaching speeds of 50mph, Wipeout takes thrill-seekers both forwards, backwards and upside-down.

The Wooden Rollercoaster, Pleasure Beach, Great Yarmouth

One of the oldest coasters in the country and still going strong. Built in 1932, it still features use of a brakeman, giving a nostalgic and thrilling experience.

Cannonball Express, Pleasurewood Hills, near Lowestoft

The original runaway train. Also once known as Enigma, this ride has been a popular favourite at the park for many years, with a top speed of 34mph,
