An elderly woman was trapped in a house fire in Lowestoft today.

Firefighters were called to reports that a person was trapped in a house fire in Monkton Avenue at around 4.45pm today.

The fire was put out and under control within 10 minutes of crews arriving on scene and an elderly female was treated for smoke inhalation, a Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said.
