A training course leading to possible employment on Suffolk’s shores has opened for applications.

The RNLI, who will patrol Lowestoft and Southwold beaches this summer, are on the lookout for new lifeguards.

RNLI Lifeguard Manager Vince Pank said: “Working as a lifeguard has got to be Britain’s best summer job.

“It’s incredible to be able to call the beach your office but more importantly you could save a life this summer.

“We want people with the courage, determination and good sense to make the right decision in potentially life and death situations.”

The RNLI are looking for fit and healthy strong swimmers aged over 16.

Candidates must also have a surf lifesaving qualification, the course for which will be held on Lowestoft South Beach between April 14 and April 19, costing £230.
