Rail services are now running as normal after a man was killed by a train today.

Police were alerted at 5.30am and officers closed the crossing to cars and pedestrians and train services were suspended.

The East of England Ambulance Service attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “We were called to a level crossing in Station Road, Bentley, Suffolk, on September 15, to a report of a person hit by a train.

“Officers from BTP and Suffolk Constabulary attended the incident, which was reported to police shortly after 5.30am.

“East of England Ambulance Service also attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are now working to identify the man and inform his family.

“This incident is not believed to be suspicious.”
