A man has been sentenced for possession of a knife, drugs and counterfeit money ay Colchester north Railway Station.

Wayne Whittingham, 41, of Hereson Road, Ramsgate, pleaded guilty to the three offences at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on November 27 following his arrest on December 11 last year.

He was sentenced at the same hearing to seven months’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, ordered to pay £200 in court costs and undertake 160 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.

The counterfeit notes, cannabis and knife he had been found with were forfeited and destroyed.

Investigating officer, PC Josh Leavett, said: “Whittingham was stopped by a drugs search dog at the station and when searched it was found to be in possession of cannabis and a lock knife, along with counterfeit £20 notes.

“He has admitted the offences and I hope the sentence he has been given will allow him to reflect on his actions and stop him from committing such crimes again.”
