A man wearing a balaclava threatened staff with a screwdriver and stole a three-figure sum of cash during a robbery of a post office in Colchester yesterday.

According to a spokesman for Essex Police the robbery happened in Ipswich Road at around 6.50pm on Wednesday, October 11.

During the robbery, the man threatened a female member of staff with what police believe was a screwdriver before riding off on a white mountain bike.

The man is described as at least 6ft tall, wearing a dark green coat, dark-coloured trousers, a dark-coloured balaclava which covered his face and a pair of dark-coloured gloves.
