A burst water main has closed a road in Melton today.

Police received a call just befroe 1pm this afternoon from someone saying there was water pouring out of a manhole cover in The Street.

Once at the scene, police contacted the council and Anglian Water to notify them of the incident.

Anglian Water’s traffic management team were on the scene as of 3.45pm.

Police are no longer at the scene but diversion signs have been put in place as the road will be closed for a number of hours.

The Orwell Bridge is now expected to remain open on Thursday after the threat of high winds overnight eased.
