A balaclava-clad robber threatened a female member of staff at a Colchester post office yesterday before stealing a three-figure sum of cash.

Essex Police are appealing for witnesses or information about the robbery, which took place around 6.50pm.

A man went into the post office in Ipswich Road and threatened a female member of staff with what is believed to have been a screwdriver, before stealing a three-figure sum of cash. He then rode off on a white mountain bike.

He is described as at least 6ft tall, wearing a dark green coat, dark-coloured trousers, a dark-coloured balaclava covering his face and dark-coloured gloves.

If you saw the man either before the incident or the moments after, or have any other information about it, please contact Dc Trevor Clark at Colchester CID on 101.

Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or click here to visit the Crimestoppers website.
