A man arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a home at Mendlesham Green on Sunday has been released on police bail.

Police were contacted by the fire service around 12.50am, to reports that the property was on fire but that no one appeared to have been inside.

Officers attended and began inquiries and, at around 3.30am the 54-year-old man, from the Mendlesham area, was arrested in connection with the blaze.
He was taken to the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre and subsequently released on bail until July 9.
Enquiries are continuing into the fire and police are asking anyone who may have been in the area between 10pm last night and 3am this morning to come forward if you saw anything that may help the investigation. If you can assist please call Suffolk Police on 101, quoting ST/14/1526.
