Police are appealing for information after a large stack of bales was set alight in West Row.

The fire occurred at 4.30am this morning, Monday, January 6, in a field in Hurdle Drove.

In the region of 800 straw bales, weighing 250 tonnes, were destroyed as a result of this incident.

One fire crew was sent to the fire in Hurdle Drove in the early hours of this morning.

After receiving a call at 4.42am the crew arrived on the scene to find the baled straw well alight. The straw has been allowed to burn under supervision.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact PC Emma Macduff at Mildenhall Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
