The ribbon at the brand-new Mildenhall Lodge care home was cut yesterday afternoon as part of a packed day of community celebrations.

Mildenhall Lodge is the first of 10 homes to open under the deal between Suffolk County Council and Care UK.

Alan Murray, the county council’s cabinet member for health and adult care, said: “Mildenhall Lodge and the other new homes and clubs across the county will allow the most vulnerable in society to receive the care and support they need in purpose built, dementia-friendly facilities.”

The new home can house 60 residents, and reflects the move to bigger and more modern facilities that were agreed under the plans.

There is also a public open day at the home today, from 10am-4pm.
