A suspicious package discovered at RAF Mildenhall has been deemed ‘non-hazardous’.

Special control measures were put in place earlier this afternoon and several buildings were closed while investigation work took place.

Representatives from the 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department, the 100th Security Forces Squadron, the Ministry of Defence police, the 48th Medical Group and the RAF Lakenheath Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit, worked at the scene before it was cleared.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

A spokesman said: “RAF Mildenhall is committed to working together with our partners to ensure the safety of our people and the local community.”
